More Canada
We have just returned from Canada and I thought I would post some pictures. The second half of our Canada trip was visiting the Canadian Maritimes, specifically Prince Edward Island (PEI), Nova Scotia, and Cape Breton.
We visited with three different friends from the Bahamas, who showed us all the beautiful areas in PEI, Halifax, and the southern coast of Nova Scotia. In Cape Breton we rented a cottage in Baddeck and spent time touring the Cabot Trail, the Fortress at Louisburg, and several small villages.
As an American, the most noticeable thing about this area is the small population. Outside of Halifax the whole area is significantly less developed than just about any coastline in the US. The weather was fantastic, mid 70s most days, but the locals tell us the summer season does not begin until July 1st.
There are a couple interesting things that I did not know about this location on the globe. One is that this part of Canada is in the “Atlantic” time zone. That is, it is one hour later than the Eastern time zone on the east coast of the US. The other thing I did not know is that the Cape Breton area of Nova Scotia is east of Bermuda.
This area of Canada is stunningly beautiful. The pictures below do not do it justice.
